ABOUT AMARAVATI

Amaravati, famous for the Amareswara temple, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva dates back to the 2nd century BCE and was once the capital of the Satavahanas and also the Pallava kings. Amaravati was a seat of Buddhism prior to the rise of Satavahanas, and a stupa and monastery were built there during the reign of Emperor Ashoka (269-232 BC) under Mauryan Empire. Amaravati, the new capital of Andhra Pradesh – eponymous with the eternal land will be a People’s Capital that is vibrant, diverse, inclusive and modern. The world class new capital of Andhra Pradesh will have planned urban infrastructure, be functionally smart, technology driven, environmentally sustainable eco system, that is conducive for holistic integrated development. The futuristic greenfield capital will be an ultimate destination for the investors, businesses, education and tourism.

It is to give shape to this vision that the ‘Bhumiputras’ -the farmers voluntarily donated their lands under the unique ‘Land Pooling Scheme’. The citizens donated bricks as part of 'My Bricks- My Amaravati' scheme thereby laying the foundation and paving the path for progress. Amaravati is hence envisioned to be an important milestone in India's urbanization story promoting progress, welfare and happiness.

To transform Andhra Pradesh into one of the most promising and prosperous states of India, the government of Andhra Pradesh has commenced working on its biggest step towards the said goaI-creation of new capital Amaravati.
